Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola slammed the decision to send off Evanilson during his side's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Bournemouth looked to be heading to a hard-fought 1-0 win on Sunday, only for Evanilson's 70th-minute red card for a foul on Noussair Mazraoui to change the complexion of the game, and United scored a last-gasp equaliser to spoil the home team's party. After the match, Cherries coach Iraola felt the wrong decision was made, that they will appeal the call, and that referee Peter Bankes made a big error.

He told : "Common sense. Everyone who has played football understands. He slips. He doesn't catch him with the leg that goes high and the consequence is a red card. It is another three games without playing. The repercussions for us are huge. Of course we are going to appeal. It is common sense. In the first half Evanilson gets a kick in the chest by Casemiro. I don't think you should have a red card for this. But the VAR cuts the worst angle, the worst frame."
On suggestions that VAR did not tell the referee that Evanilson slipped, he replied: "If you are telling me that then it is something very, very serious. It is difficult for us."

This result is a big blow for Bournemouth in their bid to secure European football for the first time in the club's history. A win would have taken them eighth but as it is they are 10th and sit seven points behind seventh-placed Aston Villa with four games to go.
