Leao will not be leaving Milan this summer, despite strong interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. “Rafa can do excellent things next season,” said Allegri when asked about Leao during a press conference. “I’m sure I can bring out that extra something he’s been missing. I’m glad he’s stayed, he’s now more responsible, more mature, and has all the qualities to become one of the best.
"I hope to help him perform even better. He is approaching the age of maturity, so I think he is more responsible as a boy. I met him, I spoke to him and I think there are the conditions to do well."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Barca have shown long-standing interest in Leao, especially after being rejected by Nico Williams for the second straight summer. But despite a strong relationship with Leao’s agent Jorge Mendes, Barca will now have to look elsewhere for a left winger, with Luis Díaz and Marcus Rashford being considered instead. Meanwhile, Bayern were keenly interested in the left winger, but he refuted the rumours recently.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR AC MILAN?
Milan are expected to remain active in the market, but Allegri has ruled out further major exits. With the Portuguese international staying, the club will now look to strengthen in other areas and bounce back after missing out on European football last season. Allegri’s challenge is clear: reshape the squad while keeping key talent motivated and firing.
